Babies, Babies, Babies

A friend of ours had their first child yesterday. Another friend just announced this morning that she is expecting their third.  Since baby news seems to always come in threes, I'm waiting for the next Facebook message or baby shower invite.  No surprises over here though.

The Boy will turn one at the end of May. The Girl turns four next Tuesday. I've been a bit emotional lately about both milestones. I haven't gotten that baby fever that everyone keeps telling me will hit when The Boy turns one though.  I'm not sure I'm cut out for three kids.  But who knows. . .

The Girl
Anyway, I've had a song I used to sing to The Girl bouncing around in my head today. I thought I would share it with all of you. I don't know where it came from, but the version I know was recorded by Nanci Griffith for an album she released a long long time ago.  It's called Turn Around and it goes like this:

Where are you going my little one, little one?
Where are you going my baby my own?
Turn around and you're two, turn around and you're four

Turn around and you're a young girl going out of the door

(Chorus)
Turn around, turn around, turn around and you're a young girl going out of the door.

Where are you going my little one, little one?
Little dirndls and petticoats, where have you gone?
Turn around and you're tiny, turn around and you're grown
Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own.

(Chorus)

Where are you going my little one, little one?
Where are you going, my baby my own?

Seems like just yesterday I was imagining what The Girl would be like at age two and age four.  It's not imagining anymore.
